Last year I came across Grace and Grey at the Grand Designs Home Show and fell in love with the quirky little unique pieces they had on offer at the show. I ended up picking two little vases (you can ready about the show and what I bought here) and ever since, I've been adding items from the online store to my never ending wish-list ready for the day when our home is complete and I can spend our money on the finishing interior touches, not just endless supplies of screws and plasterboard. So today, I'm sharing some of my favourite picks from Grace and Grey specifically for our living room.

Although our house is a period home with beautiful floorboards and period features; I love stylising a home with a slightly more modern edge. In fact, I just love that mix of old and new put together. I'm obsessing over grey at the moment - I recently painted our study grey, our kitchen cabinets are going to be grey - and the living room isn't getting away from the grey either. We've already purchased one grey sofa, but we really need another. This grey buttoned sofa is absolutely gorgeous, it has a super luxurious look to it and would be perfect for our living room. I can imagine it covered in cushions with a good throw draped across it for extra texture. It's a more traditional design which really adds to that old-meets-new kind of look we're going for. This is my absolute favourite pick for this room.

With grey, you need colours to warm everything up, so not to create a dreary miserable-grey-weather kind of room. The quirky house-shaped shelves (just HOW amazing are these?!), cushions and picture artwork add that much needed colour. I particularly think burnt oranges and plain wood finishes work really well with grey, which makes the floor lamp and bamboo side table a great fit for this room too. Being a lover of travel, I couldn't resist the vintage map mantel clock - how beautiful would it look sat on the mantel of a victorian fireplace? And the basket would be the perfect storage for blankets on a winters day, or it could even be used to store kindling for a fire.
