Flooring is a huge element of any room and when you choose a new floor, it’s probably something that you’re going to have to live with for an average of 10 years, so you need to like it!  With so many different flooring choices out there it’s really hard to know where to start.  From carpets, to marble, to vinyl flooring each has its own merits and will bring a different aesthetic, feel and warmth to a room.

One of the main things to think about when looking at flooring types is your budget, prices can vary dramatically, but this doesn’t mean that if you have your heart set on a solid marble floor, but can’t afford it, you have to give up on your dream.  There are a lot of products that can achieve a similar look but at a fraction of the price.

Vinyl flooring is also another popular choice due to its resistance to heavy use and water-resistant qualities, making it a great choice for families with children or pets.  It comes in a wide range of different looks, stone, wood, concrete, marble and even the laying patterns can be changed and altered to suit your style.

If you have ever been lucky enough to see a craftsman fit a parquet floor, you will appreciate the skill and attention to detail that is involved to get the beautiful interlocking geometric effect. Parquet has definitely made a comeback in recent years and is no longer confined to the school gym hall, this is largely due to it becoming more affordable.  Use it as a wall to wall effect or create a wooden rug effect with a border and central pattern.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column][agni_image img_url=”11979″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” img_style=”bordered”][agni_section_heading heading=”Hard Flooring” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A polished concrete floor looks amazing, especially now with the wide range of colours and finishes, which is no wonder why it is so popular.  The concrete is finely ground with a diamond polisher, then treated and buffed again using diamond polishing pads.  The process is quite time consuming and needs to be done by a professional to great that great finish.  Once completed it will provide a hard-wearing, stylish service perfect for a modern home.  Due to the laying process it can be quite costly which is why if your budget won’t stretch to it, a concrete look ceramic tile might be a better option.

Ceramic tiles come in all shapes, colours and sizes, due to this it’s considered to be very versatile as well as hardwearing and strong.  As ceramic tiles are normally water resistant it is a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms, most designs are available in a non-slip matt finish too.  Some ceramic floor tiles are available for outdoor as well as inside so it’s easy to continue your flooring out to the garden, producing a seamless indoor, outdoor solution.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][agni_image img_url=”11980″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” img_style=”bordered”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Natural stone flooring looks great but can be a big investment, although will last a lifetime!  There is a huge amount of choice, colour and texture available but due to its natural nature this can vary dramatically between tiles, so this isn’t a good choice if you want a uniform look.  Travertine, a popular choice, with its weathered appearance and light earthy tones is very durable.  A form of limestone deposited by hot mineral springs it is both moisture and water resistant.  Like with all stone flooring you do need to maintain them properly to keep them looking at their best.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][agni_image img_url=”11978″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” img_style=”bordered”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][agni_call_to_action quote=”If you need any further help why not look at our Interior Design services” quote_size=”30″ additional_quote=”Book a discovery call now” url=”#https://www.graceandgrey.co.uk/contact/” target=”_blank” style=”alt” choice=”primary” align=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
